Sleeve Notes

Jimmy Crowley is perhaps the, nearest equivalent in our day to the rollicking street ballad singers of the past and he has the same flair for composing an entertaining ballad on any topic of the moment which happens to catch his fancy.

He is renowned for his renderings of Cork songs and ballads. Here he presents a collection of his favourite songs in Irish, including some fine songs from West Cork which are as yet not widely known.

Balladeers notes

"The final test of any singer is whether or not you listen to him. I have Jimmy Crowley's Jimmy mo Mhíle Stór in the car at all times."

Liam Clancy
